Here's a fun alliteration story for Matthew 7:24-27, using W for Wise and
F for Foolish. As you tell the story emphasize the bolded words and pause slightly. Children should give a thumbs up when they hear a
W word (wise) and a thumbs down when they hear an F word (foolish).
Wesley was wise.
He listened carefully and wanted to build a strong house.
Wesley searched for a wide, solid rock. With many wise
choices he built his house there.
He took his time and made sure the walls were well-built and the roof was strong.
When the winds blew and the rain poured down, Wesley’s house
withstood the storm, because it was built on the rock.
Felix was foolish.
He didn’t take time to find a good place to build.
Felix built his house too fast on fine sand.
At first, the house looked fantastic, but when the winds roared and the
floods came, the sand shifted and the house fell flat!
Memory verse
(Jesus said)
"Everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like
a wise man who built his house on the rock" Matthew 7:24.
Be wise; build your life on Jesus!
Discussion
1) What do you suppose Jesus meant?
2) What are the "words" Jesus is referring to in our memory verse? (All the
teachings that proceeded this from his Sermon
on the Mount!)
3) How can we be wise builders?
* Listen to Jesus. Read the Bible and hear what Jesus teaches.
* Obey what He says. Don’t just hear it -- do it!
* Trust Jesus every day. Pray to Him and believe His way is best.
* Choose what’s right even when it’s hard.
* Stay strong when life gets stormy. If your life is built on Jesus, you won’t fall apart when problems
come your way.
