This morning I asked myself, “What would I rather have, money or wealth?”
Money and wealth may seem similar, but to me they are totally different. Money buys things, whereas wealth isn’t necessarily defined in dollars and
cents; it is something of extreme great value that one stores up on earth and in
Heaven!
I then thought about my wonderful, precious sister, who I miss so much everyday. She is now at home with the
Lord. I cannot wait to see her again! My sister didn’t have a lot of
money, she had something far more lasting and valuable, she had great wealth! She left behind an unforgettable legacy, a true treasure, if you will. My sister gave us a legacy of love, overflowing, generous, and sacrificial. She touched the hearts and lives of countless people. In fact, to this day, her wealth continues touching lives!
The Apostle John wrote about this kind of wealth in Revelation 14:13, "Then I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, Write: 'Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on. ‘Yes,' says the Spirit, 'that they may rest from their labors,
and their works follow them.'"
My sister, bless her heart, left us with the kind of wealth that endures
For ever!
Prayer
Lord, help us to store up treasures in Heaven where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. Help us to store up heavenly wealth!
Amen.
