Hi, just wondering if anyone has any ideas for me to 'fix' something.
My unchurched (except a couple times a year when she visits us) was thrilled to go to our summer kids church this year when we had her longer than usual.
All I heard from her was how she loved it..she's 5. I had the opportunity of introducing her to God, Jesus and how he loves us and made us.
Her mom just told me (we're visiting) that her daughter asked her how come God killed all the babies.
It was the story of the first born Egyptian babies.
I'm at a loss to turn it into positive for both my DIL and g'daughter and perhaps should just let it be and perhaps God will use this later in her life.
I wish that story hadn't been used for mixed ages when there are so many wonderful loving stories, but it was.

5) Children's Day Service?
On October 25 2007 we will be having our children's Day Service the topics
are: "God Has a plan for your life" and "Abiding in God's Word"
a. Please assist me in finding scriptures on both of those topics
b. please help me with songs pertaining to those topics

6) Autumn Leaves Theme
In response to the 'Autumn Leaves' Theme
If you have a large Sunday School class, take a leaf and put each child's name on it with "We're falling for God" on top of the tree.
Or put "We're Thankful for..." over the tree and have each child write what they're thankful for on 2-5 leaves. Some good bible verses to go along with the "thankful" theme: Ephesians 1:16, Ephesians 5:19b-20, Colossians 3:17, 1 Chronicles 16:8 and 1 Chronicles 16:34. Use a leaf to write the bible verses on and designate one verse in particular for the week's bible verse.

Just a question that we ask when teaching something. "Is this something that is important to a child's life or will benefit him in years to come?"
I am not being critical, just wondering why you are teaching this? I have been in church all my life and cannot tell you who the kings were.

9) Problem w/ Ten Commands for Pre-Schoolers
I am wondering if I am the only one who has a problem with this. The ten commandments are pretty specific - thou shalt NOT. I cannot change what God said.
Also - the re written version is not close enough to the real thing. Thou shalt have
no other gods before me does not equal pray to God only.
And I did not see any reference to do not steal, covet or commit adultery. You can break them down so children can understand, but changing them is something different.
