1) Who Prays For You? When you or loved ones encounter life's problems through sickness, financial trouble, broken relationships and various adversities, whom do you turn to for prayer? Many of us will seek out the counsel and prayers of close friends, pastors or priests, and this is fine and appropriate; we are told to pray for one another. But do you know that Jesus prays for us too? In John 17:9-20 he says,...I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours...My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message...And in Hebrews 7:24-25 we learn that Jesus ALWAYS prays for us! ...because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood. Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede "pray" for them. How wonderful to know that Jesus is ALWAYS interceding, always praying, for us. Interceding--what a great word! Jesus is always going to bat for us, pleading our case, petitioning God in our behalf. But, if we're forgiven, why does he have to plead our case? Because the Bible tells us that Satan is the Accuser of believers; he prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. (Rev. 12:10, 1 Peter 5:8) So be encouraged today, knowing that Jesus intercedes for you! For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. 1 Timothy 2:5.

2) Changing God's Mind It is very tempting and intriguing to think that we could change God’s mind (or control him) by doing or saying the right things. But this kind of thinking, that praying a certain way will get us what we want, is wrong. It places us in the role of God and makes God our errand boy, waiting for our next command. We want what we want when we want it, and we don’t want to wait to get it (whatever it may be). Trusting God, no matter what is happening in our lives, is a scary place to be, because we don’t naturally trust God to be in control of our lives. But this is exactly what God wants us to learn and to do. He wants us to trust and depend on him no matter what the circumstances in life are. In fact I think more often than not, he puts difficult and scary circumstances into our lives for this very purpose. The Bible says that without faith it is impossible to please God. 3) Bible Game: One Mediator Before The Game: Ask the players, "What is prayer? What should we pray about?" (Allow time for discussion) Prayer is speaking to God. We are to spend time praising and thanking God for who he is and what's he's done for us. We are to confess our sins to him (1 John 1:9). To confess means to admit, or to agree, that we have sinned against God. We are to ask God to supply all of our needs (Philippians 4:19). We can also pray for other people. This is called intercession. We can tell God when we are having a good day or a bad day. We can ask him for help. We can speak to God about anything! The Bible tells us that...
